Jaguar Jumpstart for Incoming 7th Grade Students

  • We are thrilled to welcome your child to the 7th grade at John Young Middle School! As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we would like to invite your child to our Jaguar Jump Start program designed specifically for incoming 7th graders.

    Jaguar Jump Start Dates:

    • August 5th or August 6th
    • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

    Your child can attend either of these dates, depending on what works best for your schedule. The Jaguar Jump Start program is an excellent opportunity for your child to become familiar with the school, meet the staff, understand school policies, and get to know their new classmates.

    Arrival and Schedule:

    • Students should arrive at John Young Middle School at 9:00 am and enter through Door “A” off Main Street.
    • Upon arrival, students will receive their schedule and directions to the gym for the day's opening remarks.

    Please Note:

    • Jaguar Jump Start is for students only. We have planned activities designed for students to get to know their peers, explore the building, and meet the staff.
    • Parents will have the opportunity to meet teachers and tour the building at the Open House on August 19th from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm.

    While we highly encourage all students to attend Jump Start, we understand that it may not be possible for everyone. Rest assured, students who cannot attend will receive their schedules on the first day of school.

    7th Grade Jump Start Agenda:

    • 9:00 AM: Student Arrival at Door “A” off Main Street
    • 9:00  AM - 9:20 AM: Schedule Pick-Up in the SRA (Blue Room)

    9:20 AM - 9:25 AM: Opening Remarks in the Old Gym

    • 9:25 AM - 10:00 AM: Hallway Getting to Know You Activity
    • 10:00 AM - 10:15 AM: Restroom/Locker Time
    • 10:15 AM - 10:45 AM: Meeting with Admin in Gym (Discussing: Schedule, Cell Phones & Dress Code, Sports and Clubs)
    • 10:45 AM - 11:00 AM: Restroom and Lockers; Report back to Hallway
    • 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Scavenger Hunt: Get to know the building and 7th-grade teachers
    • 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Lunch Procedures/Transpo Bus Procedures/Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
    • 12:00 PM: Students are dismissed (Parents, please make arrangements for your students to be picked up at noon)

    Important Information:

    1. Transpo is unable to provide school route transportation for 7th grade Jump Start Days.
    2. Breakfast or lunch will not be provided during 7th grade Jump Start Days.
