  • NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS

    Notice is hereby given to taxpayers of MISHAWAKA CITY SCHOOL CORPORATION, St. Joseph County, Indiana that the proper officers of School City of Mishawaka will conduct a public hearing on the year 2025 budget. Following this meeting, any ten or more taxpayers may object to a budget, tax rate, or tax levy by filing an objection petition with the proper officers of School City of Mishawaka not more than seven days after the hearing. The objection petition must identify the provisions of the budget, tax rate, or tax levy to which taxpayers object. If a petition is filed, School City of Mishawaka shall adopt with the budget a finding concerning the objections in the petition and testimony presented. Following the aforementioned hearing, the proper officers of School City of Mishawaka will meet to adopt the following budget.

    • Adoption Meeting Date: Wednesday, October 30, 2024
    • Adoption Meeting Time: 5:00 PM

    SCHOOL CITY OF MISHAWAKA RENEWS ED-FLEX WAIVER #2 FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

    The Indiana Department of Education has recently made changes to the Educational Flexibility Program (Ed-Flex) waiver application and requirements. Ed-Flex is a program through the U.S. Department of Education that allows state education agencies the authority to waive statutory or regulatory education requirements that may impede local efforts to reform and improve educational achievement.

    School City of Mishawaka intends to apply for/renew the Ed-Flex Waiver 2: Increased flexibility in paraprofessional requirements for the 2024-2025 school year.

    NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

    Based on the requirements of Indiana Code 20-40-2-9, School City of Mishawaka transferred more than fifteen percent of total Education fund revenue in calendar year 2023. Therefore, the school corporation did not meet the education fund transfer target percentage for calendar year 2023 and is subject to further review.
